Volkl Men’s Bridge Ski

Freeride skiers have always dreamt of a board that can evenly handle all-mountain terrains and terrain parks. Fortunately for them, Volkl has realized their dream, giving them the Volkl Men’s Bridge Ski. Designed to dominate all-mountain terrains, it can also be used to perform tricks and dominate terrain parks.

As the name implies, the Volkl Men’s Bridge Ski “bridges” the gap between big mountain terrains and terrain parks, making the board usable in either terrains, appealing all-mountain fanatics, as well as park and extreme skiing fans.

The Volkl Men’s Bridge Ski’s sidecut measurements are 130mm / 92mm / 112mm (tip / waist / tail), with all sizes sharing the same measurements. Its wide-waist design gives it more control than other wide-waisted boards. The board is available on three different lengths and sizes; the smallest size at 161cm, medium at 169cm, and the largest, 177cm. The board’s turn radius is measured at 16.1m at 161cm length, which is surprisingly small for such a big board, but makes the board ideal for narrow paths, where it is required to make smaller turns.

The Volkl Men’s Bridge Ski’s made with Power / Tough Box construction, which, as the name implies, gives the toughness and durability a ski board must have. The Tough Box enhancement equips the board with fiberglass strands around its core material, making it able to withstand the harsh environments of a big-mountain terrain. The core is made from multi-layer wood, named Sensorwood, which consists of vertically-laminated poplar and beech wood, making the board more rigid, especially on the edges. It is also equipped with lightweight Carbon stringers improves its rigidity further, but not making the board heavier in doing so.

The Bridge Ski does not have its own Integrated Binding System, nor does it have its own Binding set (although some ski shops sell this board with attached bindings). You can use your favorite bindings, but experienced skiers recommend using Salomon’s Z12 TI Ski Bindings. While the board is durable enough on its own, it wouldn’t hurt to add extra durability because you will use this board more often. The bindings also provide extra comfort and prevent feet sores and injuries especially when riding on big-mountain tracks and performing tricks on terrain parks.

Also added in the Bridge Ski’s are vibration-dampening components, which absorb shock and vibrations from hard landings, and hard ice usually experienced by skiers while riding on high speeds. This also makes the board last a long time, as it protects the board from damages that will render the board useless.

Experienced skiers recommend this board for those who want to spend equal time on mountain terrains, and snow parks. The board can be used in any snow condition, as it is strong enough to handle any given snow condition, whether it may be crud, hard, icy, or groomed.
