Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of CastleStorm on the Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360 developed and published by Zen Studios.

CastleStorm is a hybrid strategy game, mixing the cerebral approach of tower defense with the hands-on destruction of Angry Birds. Barbaric vikings are threatening the kingdom. Because that’s what vikings do. It’s up to you to keep them at bay, and you do that by launching spears, throwing bombs, deploying archers and basically being a really sweet war general. CastleStorm has you creating an air attack Angry Birds style, but you also have to deploy your soliders. And if things get really sticky, you can even step onto the battlefield yourself and slice ’em up. CastleStorm is a clever game that manages to suck away your time at a dangerous rate.

This video review features video gameplay footage of CastleStorm on the Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s Derek.

  1. My only complaint is that my troops often seem very under powered. Even when i keep leveling them up, I always feel like they're inferior to the NPC troops. Overall though good game, especially since it was free.

  2. i like how you guys review some of the old school games..but with this review it feels like you have played a new game for an hour or so and you are merely giving us a quick opinion and a few jokes..i stopped half way thru.you guys are better than this..

  3. Am I the only one who played the age of war pc game? The music in the Castlestorm trailer for this is the same.

  4. The only problem with this game is it can feel like to much going on and too much to handle at once, especially for xbox 360. Would be awesome on PC. Good concept though.

  5. yesh i chech the nintendo i shop notheing then i google it up and i think only xbox and pc so better get it on xbox it woud be funner on wii u

  6. Just a question: Why is it so necessary for you to be funny every five seconds? It's getting really tiresome.

  7. An awesome combination of ideas, you say?

That's not the only awesome combination –
If my ears don't deceive me, it even has a medieval Heavy and songs by Waterflame.
