Head Men’s Monster iM 78 SW Skis

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Different than the experts-only Monster iM 88 SW Ski, the Monster iM 78 SW Ski is narrower than the previous models, making it an ideal choice for skiers who tend to carve through hardpack or broken crud snow conditions, rather than plowing through powder snow conditions.

The Monster iM 78 SW Skis is made narrower than the other boards in the Monster series. It has measurements of 124mm / 78mm / 110mm (tip / waist / tail), and is available in 171cm to 177cm length. Its turn radius is at 14.2 cm at 171cm length, much smaller when compared to the other Monster boards. It incorporates the same technologies found on the other Monster boards, such as the Intelligence technology and the Liquidmetal technology. However, the Monster iM 78 SW Skis have further improved the effectiveness of the Intelligence Technology, giving the board extra rigidity and at the same time, gives you more control with improved rebound and torsional stiffness, making the board perform better when you need it to. The parts are fully-reinforced, and the base is also made from Structured UHM C Split Base, giving it extra agility and speed, while maintaining its control and performance. The iM 78 Ski now comes with its own Bindings, the Head Mojo 12 Integrated Ski Bindings. This can be changed to other Head Bindings but this binding complements very well with the board, giving it better performance.

Versatility is still present on this model, whereas it can plow through any given snow condition, but suffers minor speed differences when compared to the Monster iM 88, as this board is tailor-made for hard and crud snow conditions. It can, however, carve through those, without seriously damaging the board, due to its improved Intelligence and Intellifibers technology.

This board is recommended only for expert and advanced skiers who spend time skiing on ungroomed terrain and equal time on hardpack snow conditions.
