The second of the “Monster” series of Head, this board is further improved and more versatile than the older model, Monster iM 82 SW Ski. Equipped with the same technology as the iM 82, as well as other technologies unique to this model, “The Monster” has further evolved.
The Monster iM 88 SW Skis is made a little larger than its predecessor. It has measurements of 126mm / 82mm / 112mm (tip / waist / tail), and is available in 164cm to 186cm length. Turn radius is now at 19.2 cm at 175cm length. Like the previous model, it incorporates the same technologies such as the Intelligence technology, in which it uses “Intellifibers” giving the board a rigid build, protecting the board from damages from hard falls and hard landings. It also uses the Liquidmetal technology, to retain the rebound of the board, and maintain consistent flex no matter how many seasons you may ski on it. The other parts are fully-reinforced, and the base is also made from Structured UHM C, giving it extra agility and speed, while maintaining its control and performance. The Bindings are still sold separately, but can be bought with the Head-recommended Head LD 12 Wide BR Bindings. Paired with these bindings, it can provide the skier maximum comfort and better performance.
Versatility is what makes the Monster iM 88 SW Ski unique from its predecessors, as it can easily glide on powder snow conditions, but can also plow through hard snow conditions like crud, icy, and other snow conditions with ease. It is also the main difference between the Monster iM 82 and the Monster iM 88. In 82, you will feel the change on speed depending on the snow condition. Using the 88 however, you wouldn’t notice the difference in speed when you’re skiing in different conditions.
Like all other boards in the Monster series, this is recommended only for expert-level skiers. Due to its speed and agility, other skiers might not be able to handle it.
