The fourth board in the new ’09 / ’10 Seven Artistic Sins collection from Rossignol, the Rossignol Men’s S4 Pommier Skis is designed to dominate the jib skiing scene, but can also take on the mountain terrains too. The board is the graphical representation of the deadly sin “Envy”, and this board is sure to be the source of envy amongst your ski buddies.
The Rossignol Men’s S4 Pommier Skis measures at 116mm / 84mm / 109mm (tip / waist / tail), sharing the same measurements regardless of the size. The board is available on different sizes, including 160cm, 167cm, 174cm, and the largest size, measuring 181cm. Each size has its own different measurements and turn radius, with the smallest board (160cm) having the turn radius of 16.7m, perfect for narrow paths in mountain tracks.
As a part of the Seven Artistic Sins collection, it has its own art representing the different seven deadly sins. The S4’s board art is made by Andrew Pommier, depicting a sad image of a black and white world, as men try to escape their humanity by wearing animal masks. While it may somehow not relate to “envy” in any way, its art is so brilliantly done, that it might provoke hints of jealousy and envy to your ski buddies.
The Rossignol Men’s S4 Pommier Ski’s performance equals that of the board’s brilliant art, as it eats up the competition, establishing itself as one of the best jib skis in the market. This is specifically-built and designed for skiers who spend 20% on mountain terrains and 80% on parks, as the technologies that make up the board is mostly for jibbing, but can also handle the tough mountain terrains.
The board’s core is made from processed poplar and ash materials, named THC2 Wood Core, to create a lightweight yet efficient board that provides skiers with a comfortable ride and stable board. It also has the Weight Reduction System, the technology used in several Rossignol boards, that reduces the overall weight of the board by aligning the fiber materials to the sidecut shape, placing more fiber materials on the underfoot, and lesser on both tip and tail. This technology gives the board an improved balancing ability and extra stability. Also included in this board is the Mini Rossitop construction to toughen the top of the ski, which is useful when doing high jumps and encountering hard bumps along the way. Visco elastomer inserts complements the Mini Rossitop cap, thus improving the board’s durability. Its sidewalls are angled at 30 degrees to reduce the overall weight and enhance edging and total durability of the board.
Some stores do include a binding set for the Rossignol Men’s S4 Pommier Skis. However, if the store does not provide one, Rossignol recommends using the Rossignol Freeski2 140 L. This provides extra comfort to the skier’s feet, as well as making the board more stable especially while doing those hard tricks and catching big air.
