Salomon Men’s Czar Ski

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Driven by their passion for skiing and design innovation, the founders of the Salomon company, Francois Salomon and his son George, designed and perfected many of the first modern ski bindings. One of them is the Salomon Men’s Czar Ski.

The Salomon Men’s Czar Ski, is built for the freestyling skier. This is commonly used in big mountain backcountries to handle deep snow conditions, but can also handle groomers and all-mountain terrain with ease. The board floats easily on crud and loose snow conditions, due to its twin-tip design. This board can also be used by expert skiers who want to do some heli-skiing.

The Salomon Men’s Czar Ski, measuring at 128mm / 108mm / 118mm (tip / waist / tail) at 174cm length, gives a wide turn radius of 40m, ideal for wide backcountry areas. It is available on varying sizes, from 166cm to 182cm, each giving a different and wider (or smaller) turn radius. Its design is very ollie-friendly, with total reinforcement on all sides, making it suitable for freestyle skiers. Its wide nose and rounded profile with a high twin tip tail gives it the ability to easily float on soft snow conditions such as groomed and loose snow conditions.

There are several technologies incorporated in this board. The board is made from wood core for lively feel and with Pulse Pad elastomer technology, absorbing the vibrations from hard landings and falls, and in effect, lessening the possible injuries to the skiers’ feet. This also gives the skier stability, and a powerful rebound when doing those sharp turns or high jumps. The board is also reinforced for stiffness and rigidity, giving it the much needed durability to withstand different snow conditions. It also has the Salomon patented “Edgy Monocoque” construction for improved edge grip, making it easier to transfer power from your boots and bindings to the edges of the board for better grip on the snow.

It doesn’t come with its own Bindings, and you will also need a wide brake bar to fit it in on the boards wide waist measurement of 108mm. Fortunately, Salomon has developed their own Bindings, and the board can be used (and it is recommended) with the Salomon’s ultra-strong STH 16 B115 Ski Bindings, which complements the board’s design, giving it a better and smoother performance.

One good thing about the Salomon Men’s Czar Ski is that the board reacts almost instantaneously to your desired maneuver. Its maneuverability is so good, that one satisfied user comments that, “you would only need to imagine your line, and the board will obligingly follow the path you have set”. Other comments from other users have been mostly positive, mentioning its dominance not only on the backcountry areas, but on other terrains and snow conditions as well.

If you need more information on where you can buy the board or need further explanations for the different specifications of this board, you can contact them or alternatively, you can visit their official website.
