Salomon Men’s Lord Ski

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

Dominate the slopes and backcountry areas with style! From the makers of the Rocker, Czar, and X-Wing Lab boards, comes the new Salomon Men’s Lord Ski. Designed specifically for big mountain freeskiing and backcountry areas, you are sure to conquer the mountains with this board!

The Salomon Men’s Lord Ski is in the same collection of wide-waisted boards, like the Rocker, Czar and X-Wing Lab, the only difference is that the board is narrower than any of those boards, making it ideal for riding during spring backcountry conditions.

The boards’ sidecut measurements are 128mm / 85mm / 112mm (tip / waist / tail) in 177cm size. It has a turn radius of 17.4m in 177cm length. The board is available in different lengths, 169cm, 177cm, or 185cm, each giving a smaller or wider turn radius. It is ollie-friendly, and has a total-edge reinforcement design, that can give the much needed rigidity to the board, and a much more effective boots to edge power transfer. Its base is made from P-tex 4000 graphite, giving the board high abrasion resistance, resulting to a “gliding” feeling.

Several technologies used on other boards made by Salomon are also incorporated in this board. The board is made from Salomon wood core for lively feel and with Pulse Pad elastomer technology for absorbing the vibrations from hard landings and falls. This technology gives total feet comfort and lessens possible injuries to the skier’s feet. In addition, this also gives the skier stability especially when doing those sharp turns or high jumps. The board is made from full-wood core, delivering direct transmission of power with precision and efficiency, to provide the skier with maximum performance. Rigidity and stiffness are also improved by giving it fiber reinforcements, increasing the edge’s strength to up to 25%, as well as making it withstand different snow conditions and making the board more durable.

Like other boards made by Salomon, it also incorporates the “Edgy Monocoque” construction for improved edge grip, making it easier to transfer power from your boots and bindings to the edges of the board for better grip on the snow.

This board does not have its own set of bindings and you will need to purchase one. You can fit in your favorite bindings or you can opt to buy a Salomon STH 16 B130 Bindings, for tighter, but comfortable, grip and maximum stability during those high-speed rides.

Reviews on this board have been quite positive. Some reviews tell that the Lord Ski is one of the best all-mountain skis that really dominate the backcountry, and that it is living up to its name. However, there are some comments on this board, like being a little noisy and clattery when used on hardpack snow. Although the board may be a little noisy on those snow conditions, it does not affect its performance whatsoever.
