Flotation and stability, these are the two things that are on the mind of the Salomon Company when they designed the Salomon Men’s Rocker Skis. Specifically made for skiing on powder snow conditions, this board will make you feel like you are floating in a weightless environment.
The Salomon Men’s Rocker Skis is the widest ski in Salomon’s Freeskiing Big Mountain Collection. Its design and massive dimensions, measuring 192cm (board length) and 147 / 127 / 137 (tip / waist / tail) that is almost 15% larger than other boards, makes this especially fit for snowing on big mountain lines or deep snow. Despite having larger dimensions than other boards, this is quite lightweight compared to smaller, but heavier boards. The board is built with lightweight double-wall monocoque (carbon fiber) Spaceframe, making the Rocker durable and can take hard landings with minimal to no damage to the board by transferring the power to the edge after a hard fall. The edge has also been improved and has total reinforcement to prevent damage.
Its base material is made of UMWH Graphite, while its core material is made of full wood. This enables the skier to reach maximum speed while maintaining its balance. The Rocker can make big arching turns with its turn radius of 48.5m (or 192cm), which is common for boards with large dimensions. Thus, it is recommended for use only on wide, spacious areas, so that you can turn easily and comfortably. The Rocker has no bindings but you can fit in almost any bindings on it. Salomon recommends its own product, the Salomon STH 16 B130 Bindings, for tighter, but comfortable grip in your feet, and maximum stability.
While it is made particularly for cold-smoke powder snow, that doesn’t mean it can’t take on other snow conditions like crud, groomed, or icy. Its massive dimensions and burly build makes it able to traverse and carve through any snow condition with ease. It can even take on hard snow with its traditional sidecut, as it gives enough power and control to traverse through hard snow until you make it to the spot of powder snow.
Salomon created this for expert skiers who want a wide, but fast ski for untracked, backcountry powder conditions. It is also recommended for unexplored bowls, and untracked expanses of snow, as the Salomon Men’s Rocker Skis can conquer them with ease. Pairing it with Salomon’s STH 16 B130 Bindings, it will make your traverse down the mountain a breeze. As other skiers put it, “It will ROCK your world”, and indeed, it will!
Reviews on this board have been quite positive. Others even say that this is the best powder ski ever made by the Salomon, as it provides maximum stability on powder conditions, giving them the illusion of floating as they traverse down the mountains.
