Whether it’s on-piste or off-piste, the Salomon Men’s XW Fury Skis is ready to take it on. With its superior shock absorption and excellent terrain adaptation, skiers will be more than ready to take on any challenge with this board!

From the makers of the Czar, Lord, and Rocker Skis, comes the X-Wing Fury Skis. Like the latter three, it also has a wide-waisted design, dramatically improving its controllability. This board is recommended for those trips on deep powder backcountry areas.

The board’s sidecut measurements are 128mm / 85mm / 111mm (tip / waist / tail) in 177cm size. It has a turn radius of 18.4m in 177cm length. The board is available in different sizes: 163cm, 170cm, 177cm, and 184cm, each length giving a wider (or smaller) turn radius.

Like other wide-waisted boards from the Salomon Company, the XW Fury Ski is made with full-wood core, improving the transmission of power significantly. The “X” in the XW (X-Wing) represents the ski’s over-shaped sidecut, which improves performance on those powdery snow conditions. Edges are reinforced with fiber materials giving it the much-needed rigidity, and at the same time, improves its durability. Double Monocoque construction improves its responsiveness. The Fury’s base is made from P-Tex 4000 graphite, the same material used on other wide-waisted skis, which gives high abrasion resistance, resulting to a “gliding” feeling. The Z12 Ti Bindings, recommended by the Salomon for use with the Fury, automatically adjusts height and width at critical boot points, resulting to maximum comfort, snow feel, and better control. It also provides extra stability, therefore reducing frequencies of feet sores and injuries.

Besides the full-wood core and Double Monocoque construction, the board is also equipped with thermoplastic / elastomer Pulse Pads, which acts as a shock absorber. It lessens the damage done to the board during those hard landings, and also provides the skier with a smooth ride. With fiber reinforcements and Pulse Pads technologies incorporated in this board, you are sure that this board will last a long time. The Protrak ski / binding interface further improves the board’s responsiveness and controllability of the board, and when used with the Z12 Ti Bindings, it’s virtually easy to maneuver with. Its XL Chassis gives the board better carving ability, stability and smoothness when going on high speeds, and provides flotation on deep powder snow conditions.

Reviews on this board have been mostly positive. Its durability, toughness and adaptability to different snow conditions is praised, taking on hard snow conditions such as crud or icy with ease, while providing the same smooth ride on groomed snow conditions. It is also praised on its excellent performance on on-piste and off-piste tracks. This board also eliminates the annoying clatters that skiers’ usually experience on other wide-waisted boards when skiing on hard snow conditions. Instead, it provides a smooth, quiet ride.
